American Alloy Fabricators was founded in 1989 by Gerry Colvin, a veteran in the pharmaceutical process manufacturing industry, and his wife Barbara. “I had always wanted to start a business,” Gerry recalls. “I wanted to build a company that valued its employees as true assets, a company that provided a great work environment that inspired its workers to offer exceptional service and quality products.”
When the company he was working for ended up closing its doors, Gerry decided to seize the opportunity. Starting in a small oversized garage, Gerry and his wife Barbara worked diligently to earn a reputation for outstanding work and personal relationships, focusing on the pharmaceutical process equipment world he knew so well, but remaining open to other fitting projects.
In 1995, after 6 years of hard work and dedication, American Alloy purchased land and set about building their current facility, expanding and adding significantly to their personnel and equipment. During this time, we also secured our certification to build pressure vessels per the ASME section 8, division 1 standards.
In 2003, current General Manager Dave Schueck joined the company. “I was selling to American Alloy and one day Gerry called me into his office and offered me a position,” Dave confesses. “I had always appreciated his approach and was excited about the prospect of partnering with him to build something special.” Though Dave started out in a sales role, he has since expanded his responsibilities to assist with all aspects of the daily sales and operations of American Alloy.
In 2007, American Alloy tackled their largest project to date (at the time), producing more than thirty Monel 400 vessels and reactors for a company that manufactures and provides anesthesia to the medical profession. The project pushed the boundaries of both the staff and the facility, consuming nearly all resources of time and space for nearly 6 months.
In 2013, at the request of a long-time pharmaceutical client, American Alloy was asked to assist the chemical division in the production of Hastelloy tanks. The resulting project moved us deeper into that industry and helped us to develop a reputation for high-end equipment in the Chemicals industry.
In 2014, American Alloy went international, producing instrumentation, piping and vessels for a glass coating company in China. The technically challenging project again raised the stakes, further expanding the capabilities and skills of our team.
Recently, we were approached by a global biotech company with a project that required confined space entry certification. In keeping with our corporate mission to provide seamless solutions to our customers, we undertook the process to secure certification and successfully completed the project marking our entry in the biotech industry.
