Precision fabrication starts with the right material

Precision fabrication starts with the right material. For industries where corrosion, extreme temperatures, or chemical exposure compromise equipment performance, selecting the appropriate alloy is a strict requirement.

American Alloy Fabricators is a custom manufacturer specializing in pressure vessels, and filtration systems designed for the pharmaceutical, chemical, and food processing sectors. We lead the industry by providing engineered solutions for the pharmaceutical, chemical, and food processing sectors. We specialize in stainless steel fabrication, exotic alloy machining, and welding across a variety of materials engineered for demanding process environments.

Stainless Steel Fabrication for Sanitary and Corrosive Environments

Stainless steel remains the foundation of sanitary fabrication. Its chromium content forms a passive oxide layer that resists corrosion. This layer also makes cleaning protocols more efficient. For food, beverage, pharmaceutical, and biotech applications, stainless steel fabrication delivers the durability and hygienic surface required by industry standards.

Our capabilities include working with primary sanitary stainless steel grades, including:

  • 304/304L. Functions as the standard sanitary grade for food and beverage environments. The low-carbon variant (304L) reduces the risk of carbide precipitation during welding to maintain corrosion resistance in heat-affected zones.
  • 316/316L. Provides enhanced resistance to chlorides and acidic media. The addition of molybdenum makes this grade the preferred choice for pharmaceutical manufacturing and chemical processing reactors or process piping.

Nickel and High-Performance Alloy Fabrication

When process conditions exceed the capabilities of stainless steel, nickel, and high-performance alloys, fabrication becomes necessary. These materials maintain structural integrity under extreme heat and resist oxidation. They also withstand corrosive chemicals that would otherwise degrade standard stainless grades.

Our specialized fabrication capabilities include several high-performance alloys:

  • Hastelloy®. Delivers high resistance to strong acids and reducing environments, typically utilized in Hastelloy C-276 chemical reactors and filtration systems.
  • Inconel®. Retains structural strength at extreme temperatures. Grades 600 and 625 are used for high-temperature processes to resist oxidation and creep.
  • Monel®. Features a nickel-copper composition that resists seawater and hydrofluoric acid in marine environments.
  • Alloy 20. Developed for sulfuric acid service, offering broad protection for specialized chemical plant vessels.
  • AL-6XN®. A super-austenitic stainless steel with high molybdenum and nitrogen content that resists chloride-induced pitting better than standard 316L.

Proper nickel and high-performance alloy fabrication ensures that your equipment remains durable in the most aggressive industrial environments.

Custom Specialty Alloys Fabrication

While nickel alloys dominate process equipment, carbon steel fabrication plays a role in structural and support applications. Carbon steel provides strength for components like external jackets, support flanges, and mounting brackets. These parts do not contact corrosive process media but require the same precision fabrication standards applied to all our work.

For specialized requirements, we also utilize exotic alloy machining and welding to address unique thermal or corrosive challenges:

  • Duplex Stainless Steel (2205 and 2507) combines austenitic and ferritic properties to improve resistance to stress corrosion cracking.
  • Incoloy® alloys handle high-temperature oxidation and carburization in vessels.
  • RA 253 MA® maintains stability at temperatures up to 1900 °F and resists metal creep.

The team at American Alloy Fabricators supports complex carbon steel fabrication projects to guarantee that all auxiliary structures remain durable over time.
